How Buy The Boat works.

TL;DR SUMMARY

Pay to bid for advertising space on the virtual boat. Higher bids can replace existing advertisers. The boat can sink, ads can go underwater, and advertising results are never guaranteed. Payments purchase digital promotional placement, not ownership of a real boat or a chance to win money.

BUY A SPOT

Buy The Boat contains virtual advertising positions located on a fictional 3D boat. Users can pay to bid for or claim eligible advertising positions.

Depending on the position, the user may be able to display:

Brand name & product title
Brand logo & promotional artwork
Destination website URL
Twitter / X social handle

⚠️ A purchase is for digital advertising placement only. It does not grant ownership of any real-world boat, vessel, real estate, company asset, security, or financial instrument.

BIDS ARE REAL PAYMENTS

When you place a paid bid, the payment is real. The amount shown before checkout is the amount you authorize through our third-party payment partner (Dodo Payments). No bids are considered active until verified payment confirmation is received.

HIGHER BIDS MAY REPLACE LOWER BIDS

For spots operating under the competitive bidding model:

A higher qualifying bid may replace the current advertiser.
The new bidder becomes the active advertiser for that placement.
The previous advertiser may lose the active display position on the vessel.
Previous payments are not automatically returned simply because another user later outbids them.

💡 This is a competitive placement model. Make sure you understand that being outbid later does not qualify as a payment error or refund trigger.

21-DAY ACTIVE DISPLAY WINDOW & ROTATION

To provide continuous opportunities for new creators, developers, indie projects, and startups to gain visibility, each promotional spot has an active display duration of 21 days on the 3D vessel.

Placements remain active until:

The 21-day placement cycle concludes to open up the spot for newcomers
Another valid bid replaces the placement on competitive spots
The position becomes submerged underwater as part of health gameplay
The advertisement violates our content guidelines or safety terms

🎮 Future Game Evolution: Buy The Boat is actively evolving from a survival experiment into a full multiplayer browser game. Early participants will be credited as founding vessel backers with unique perks in the expanded game!

THE BOAT CAN SINK

The sinking boat is an integral part of the browser game:

As boat health decays, lower deck placements submerge underwater.
Advertisements on submerged spots may become partially or fully obscured by ocean water.
If boat health hits 0%, the entire ship sinks.
Ownership and bid history records remain in the database even when underwater.
When the boat is restored with new purchases or revivals, submerged spots rise back to the surface.

🌊 Going underwater is part of the game and is not itself grounds for a refund.

PURCHASES MAY HELP THE BOAT

Successful purchases restore boat health, grant survival time, contribute to community disaster objectives, affect leaderboard rankings, and influence Captain status. These game effects have no monetary value and cannot be redeemed for cash or prizes.

NO GUARANTEED RESULTS

Buying advertising does NOT guarantee clicks, impressions, customers, revenue, social followers, conversions, SEO benefits, traffic, or business growth. Users are purchasing the opportunity for promotional placement inside the Buy The Boat experience.

PROHIBITED ADS

Illegal goods, services, drugs, or weapons
Malware, phishing, scams, or fraudulent businesses
Explicit sexual content or exploitation
Hate speech, extremist or discriminatory content
Copyright or trademark infringement

URL RULES

All destination URLs must use valid https:// (or standard supported http://). Dangerous protocols such as javascript:, data:, or file: are strictly prohibited and automatically rejected. Links must not deceive users or redirect to malicious destinations.

LOGO & CREATIVE RIGHTS

By uploading a logo or artwork, you confirm you own or hold the necessary rights to that material. You grant Buy The Boat a non-exclusive license to display, crop, and render that artwork on the 3D vessel, in game screenshots, on share cards, and in marketing materials for the game. You retain complete ownership of your original brand assets.

MODERATION & REMOVAL

Buy The Boat reserves the right to remove, hide, or disable any placement that violates these rules, infringes third-party rights, links to malicious material, or poses security or payment processing risks. Removal due to rule violations does not create a right to a refund.

GAME EVENTS & SURVIVAL MECHANICS

Disaster events (storms, icebergs, engine failures, decay spikes) may temporarily alter property visibility, decay rates, or vessel orientation. These mechanics are part of the game and do not represent financial instruments or cash rewards.

FAIR PLAY & INTEGRITY

Players and advertisers must not exploit bugs, manipulate requests, spoof payment confirmations, attempt database intrusions, or automate abusive traffic. Any unauthorized attempts will result in immediate termination of placement and permanent blacklisting.

PAYMENT CONFIRMATION AS SOURCE OF TRUTH

A placement becomes valid only after Buy The Boat receives authoritative server-side confirmation from Dodo Payments via our secure webhook. A client-side browser redirect alone does not activate an advertisement.
